SLIDING SCALE OF “ACTIVE SHOOTERS” IN CALIFORNIA
California SB 553 law mandates comprehensive workplace violence prevention plans (WVPPs) across all sectors choosing the right partner for compliance is critical.

PREPARED – PROACTIVE – PROVISIONAL
Our well-known state of California is where many different cultures and economic facets of people enjoy life to live. However, in the last decade it has become seemingly impossible to NOT hear of devastating news of an “Active shooter” who has in some cases with or without provocation taken advantage using a high-powered weapon to either injure of fatally kill innocent bystanders. This has taken place in various locations that are typically not associated with such activity.

HIGHLY PROBABLE LOCATIONS:

  • SCHOOLS
  • RESTAURANTS
  • SHOPPING CENTERS
  • CONCERTS
  • MOVIE THEATERS

Since the hands down approval and passing of SB553 in September of 2023 by Governor Newsom, it has been especially helpful to insert the guidelines enforced by CAL/OSHA within your business to assert protocols, prevention and provisional training in the workplace.

Our rate in California, (among states with more than 10 million residents) mass shootings has decreased as per the Gun Violence Archive national survey has reported. Fewer mass shootings and declining victimization rates constitute good news for California. YET, we should not be complacent amid these declines because they could be SHORT LIVED!

Having a “plan” is a greater chance to survive an unforeseen fatal situation versus “no plan at all”.  The state of California has implemented SB553 to be of a protocol to educate, enforce and exhibit, train your personnel and staff in the event of this tragedy.
