An additional Historically Black College or University (HBCU) has experienced a MASS SHOOTING in connection with its Homecoming event following the game

A night meant for celebration at Lincoln University turned tragic when gunfire erupted during homecoming festivities and leaving one man dead along with 6 injured as result of a MASS SHOOTER.
Just outside of the International Cultural Center on the school’s campus in Oxford, Pennsylvania, large crowds gathered following the homecoming football game for a tailgate-style event as reported by the Chester County Commissioner Eric Rose. Upon the six injured, one was a student, another an alumnus and the others were determined not directly connected to the school. These six individuals are expected to survive.
Chester County District Attorney Chris de Barrera-Sarobe confirmed the death of the 25 year old victim who sustained a GUNSHOT wound to the head. Commissioner Rose declared a MASS SHOOTING had occurred and asked the community to keep students, staff, law enforcement and First Responders in their prayers and thoughts. The six injured ranged from 20 to 25 years old.
Police reported that there were multiple shooters involved in the incident, and stated that the shooting appeared not to be intended to cause mass casualties but occurred during homecoming weekend. One individual was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon without a permit and is yet to be determined if the weapon in possession was involved in the shooting. That individual claimed the weapon was family owned.
The University President, Brenda Allen called the attack, “senseless violence, GUN violence happens far too often in our country and we are heartbroken that Lincoln University and its students are among the latest victims”. She suspended all classes on Monday, the 27th for “a day of healing and reflection.” Many watched the stampede of people while panicked and confused not knowing what to do.
These days far too often are we plagued with reading the aftermath of a MASS SHOOTING on any level of EDUCATION CAMPUSES nationwide and most importantly WHY committed by our youth? Why is anger so overwhelming in incidents involving firearms?
California Senator Cortese authored SB553 on workplace violence, which Governor Newsom signed into law in September 2023. The bill took effect July 1, 2024. This Bill targets acts of violence in public areas—including mass shootings on campuses, workplaces, places of worship, and businesses—by requiring each location to implement a proactive preparedness plan. This includes employee participation, training, maintaining written reports and the proper procedures in communicating to First Responders.
