Oklahoma State University Campus is struck by Gunfire

The City of Stillwater, OK which is home of the Oklahoma State University, has left three people seriously injured. Police report only one of the three shot was a student who attended the school. According to police, the shooting stemmed from a disagreement that took place outside Carreker East Hall, a three-story residential building on campus.

According to Police, there was a large party off campus at an Expo Center near the campus which ended around 2:30AM. Further info revealed that several individuals left the party and headed to Carreker Hall for an after party when the shooting erupted. In California, State Senator Dave Cortese played a key role in drafting and advancing Senate Bill 553 (SB 553), a landmark law aimed at preventing workplace violence. The bill requires employers—including those operating in schools, public venues, and places of worship—to implement comprehensive violence prevention plans as part of their safety protocols. To bring the bill into effect, Governor Newsom approved, signed and enacted this mandated Bill effective July 1, 2024 for all to comply. He assigned Cal/OSHA to monitor compliance and given them the authority to cite those who fail to create training for their employees, proactive measures, preventative solutions and preparedness for these unforeseen incidents.
