Reflections on the FSU Tragedy: ASAA’s Perspective
To this country’s misfortune regarding the repeated “Active Shooter” incidents which are truly unknown where they may occur, by who and for what reason; begin from feared trauma to injury and in most cases several too many fatalities. This marks the 420th school shooting on an educational campus in the United States since the 1999 Columbine tragedy!
This has once again occurred at an open college campus in south Florida, the famed Florida State University. The results of this unforeseen incident left 6 injured and 2 dead from the reckless and wild shooting of this 20 year male suspect and who is the son of a local Sheriff deputy in that area. The weapon used was one from home and accessible by this young man. He being very uncooperative and upset with peers from school and supported by his own anger engaged into this shooting spree.
POTUS Trump, a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment supports the “right to bear arms” and feels it’s not the weapon but who uses the weapon in the wrong manner. However, this constitutional right has increased the amount of retaliatory measures against those who feel turned against, rejected in a relationship, terminated from their employment and a host of other reasons to unknowingly arm themselves, enter a public or private location (mostly with an automatic weapon) and take lives and in some cases their own.
As humans, there are no possible means or ways to know the thinking of another person or what would make them snap but having some aforethought of a plan in most environments is priceless and could result in the combination of injury free and saving lives.
To be fortified and plan for an incident like this is considered ludicrous in our modern day society but with
NO PLAN
PLAN TO FAIL
Stay safe!!
